Exploring Your Relationship with Substances
Monday, 8:30-9:45am

Finding a safe place to talk with others about your substance use can be difficult to find. Especially if you are not at the point or ready to enter substance abuse treatment. The pandemic has brought its own challenges with one’s relationship to substances, as many are finding themselves more and more isolated.

This group is a safe place to explore where you are in your relationship to a substance, the impact it has on different aspects of your life, and a place to start a dialogue about what you want to do with that information. There are so many gray areas in this exploration – what works from one group member may not work for another.

In this group, there is no expectation to stop or stay stopped. This is not a group that is intended to help you moderate your use or convince you what to do about your use. It is a free of shame and judgement group to explore, to listen and to feel heard in your exploration and struggle.

There will be elements of psycho-education, processing and general support each week. The group will run for twelve group sessions.

Group Topics will include:

  • Understanding my Substance Use – A Historical Exploration

  • Cost / Benefit Analysis

  • Impacts of the Pandemic

  • Guilt and Shame

  • Grief and Loss

  • Assessing Risk and Limits

  • Exploring Relationships with Self, Substances and Others

  • Sex and Substances

  • Mental, Emotional and Physical Self-Care

  • Staying Present
